In the last five years Centurion based TTi Global have trained over 250 journeymen in the latest technologies of body repair. Corne Viviers recently held a cross-industry delegates day for body shops, insurers and motor makers involved in the approval or repair standards across South Africa.

Speaking to a packed house, Viviers went through some of the equipment available at the Aer-o-cure training centre in Johannesburg. They can accommodate all learners with two fully equipped welding rooms as well as two modern theory classrooms.  A full five-day training package has been perfected on new model introductions such as VW and Audi.

The state-of-the-art facility in body shop repair includes:

  • Aluminium rectification for VW and Audi
  • Windscreen replacement for Mercedes-Benz
  • Foundation Skills for Jaguar and Land Rover
  • Structural Aluminium repair for Jaguar Land Rover
  • Automotive Mag welding and Mig brazing supported by Ford, Isuzu, Mitsubishi and Renault.

These courses are also backed nationally by Merseta with their accreditation skills programmes.

The centre will be powered by some expert body repair trainers with Aubrey Allen Ross, Sarel Venter and Eddie Scheepers, all backed-up by years of experience and hands-on knowledge. The courses are aligned with the national curriculum that allows technicians to earn up to 32 points towards a certificate for welding applications and practice.

Body shops who enrol their key staff will be able to recover some of their costs in the form of a national grant. “We are confident,” says Viviers, “that our competent training modules of theoretical and hands-on practical applications will focus our learners on best practice. The TTL focus is on fully understanding equipment use with a good knowledge of equipment set up and operation when dealing with aluminium welding, modern panel repair and dent removal techniques.”
