Highly chromatic blues and deep, lively and very intense reds are currently very much on trend for new cars. Spies Hecker, a global refinish paint brand from Axalta, has developed a process to achieve an invisible repair of these sophisticated colours using tinted clear coats. In the latest Tips4You video, International Training Leader for Axalta’s Refinish business, Tony Mitchell, gives practical and easy-to-implement tips.

Recreating the depth and brilliance of unusual effect colours is a challenge for vehicle refinishers. It requires a high degree of skill coupled with knowledge of the latest repair methods. In the current Tips4You video from Spies Hecker, Mitchell, International Training Leader for Axalta’s Refinish business, explains what needs to be considered when repairing the particularly deep red and blue tones from the standard paintwork, which are becoming increasingly popular. “We rely on tinted clear coats with our repair solution. This enables us to achieve the lively and intense colour depth that we need for an invisible repair,” he says.

Spies Hecker regularly publishes new repair tips and frequently asked questions for particularly demanding application techniques on its YouTube channel, which are available to view free of charge.

Mitchell says, “The advantage of the Tips4You videos is that they are developed thanks to the wealth of experience and knowledge of the latest technologies and product developments that Spies Hecker has. Refinisher can absolutely rely on the quality of our online guidance.”
