Luxor’s long-time paint and body filler impresario, Ronnie Lurie recently celebrated his 80th birthday. Close relatives travelled from afar to celebrate this glorious occasion along with the Luxor staff.
Since 1970, Ronnie a qualified accountant, became known as the manufacturing ‘Godfather’ of refinish products. Business began in the garage at his home, where he produced the first batches of body filler with a stirring machine. Shortly afterwards he joined General Abrasives and Tool where the range expanded from polyester fillers only, to paint and body shop allied lines and refinishing products. From Premier Chemical Industries, the Lurie’s introduced Luxor Paints.
Kevin, Laura and Ronnie’s son, manages the day-to-day running of the company with them still very much involved, and playing a major part.
Ronnie’s kind and informal nature saw him forge many loyal and long-standing relationships with both customers and suppliers, some of them spanning over half a century. On any given day you will find him whizzing around on his electric scooter in the factory, taking a vigorous interest in the operational side of the business.
