With multiple colour options being seen on new models of vehicles, obtaining a visually correct colour match has been considerably improved with Mipa’s innovative colour system advances.

The colour card system has thousands of colour sample spray-outs and can now be found in just one system of 2K and water-based refinished types. It’s now no longer necessary to switch to different colour mixing shades. By using a new type of colour group, colours with formula numbers printed on the rear of the colour chip are to be seen along with any special colour deviations. These high precision Mipa actual spray outs give the closest colour match to the original factory painted colour shades.

“Mipa Mix 5.0 recently introduced to the local body shop repair market is gaining a large following as well as from independent paint distributors across the Republic,” says Shaun van Eeden, Mipa brand manager at Kapatal Brands, who are the local importers of the German manufactured refinish line.

A huge financial investment from Mipa has seen absolutely every aspect of Mipa Mix made easy with their new colour shade library. By integrating the portable colour spectrophotometer to compare samples, the device takes colour measurements at seven different angles to affect a perfect formula colour match. Evaluations are made so much faster and help reduce colour matching labour down time while increasing production capability.

Mipa Mix SSP capably offers variant shades to make colour completely outstanding. All an operator has to do in order to achieve “B7” for example, is to transmit the formulation software by typing it in or by means of a barcode reader. The correctly mixed formulation then matches the colour shade exactly on the colour card.

Using previous formulations from car maker’s original codes is yet another option. Weather changes to the colour that could have taken place need to be factored in as well. Ease-of-use has been a paramount feature of the latest Mipa professional coating system.

By simply placing a spectrophotometer on the surface of the vehicle and the colour to be matched, the user will find a computer printed card on the display with the comprehensive database on the computer, which is geared to find the recommended colours efficiently and with improved speed. Mipa say that Mipa Mix SSP will show about 20 times more possible colour variants that current conventional colour documentation can achieve in every day usage.
