Situated in the heart of the picturesque Breede River Valley in the Western Cape is M & N Bakwerke, a major structural repairer, with a legacy that spans 50 years.
Bokkie Niemand, working as a panel beater in Worcester, opened M & N Bakwerke in 1968. Repairing a vehicle in those years is now light years away from how you need to do it today with all its advanced technology and necessary equipment. Straightening a vehicle was simply done by placing a hook in the ground or tying a chain around the closest tree. Using lead as part of the panelbeating process was a real skill of its own. In 1992, Bokkie was joined by his son Basil and the business went from strength to strength to become the success it is today.
Driven by 90% insurance work, over 16 major approvals and a staff complement of close to 40, this small town panelbeater attributes its success down to providing real customer service. “Treating each customer with the same respect and appreciation has been the major contributor to our success,” reckons Basil. The majority of the staff have been with them for well over 20 years, growing with experience and being fully part of the M & N family.
Two of their main challenges down the years has been the increase in the office infrastructure, as well as the ever-changing car repair processes. They know the trade well, and continue to do their research and understand where the refinish business is going for future growth.
The company’s main focus is on customer satisfaction. Arriving at M & N Bakwerke, customers are met with friendliness and professionalism. Customers can be assured they have arrived at a shop with the highest levels of service, quality and satisfaction on offer.
Armed with the latest equipment and huge renovations on the way, they are ready to go beyond industry standards. “PPG and ABS Parow have provided us with the necessary tools, processes and assistance on this journey. With PPG Envirobase® High Performance, we comply with the major motor manufacturer’s paint requirements, minimising our carbon footprint with a safer working environment. Envirobase HP remains a true waterborne product allowing for easy colour matching, quicker flash times and increased productivity,” says Basil.
M & N Bakwerke are privileged to be a part of the development of the motor repair industry. The way they pride themselves in work quality and customer satisfaction will surely stand them in good stead for the next 50 years.
