When David de Sousa opened for business in 1987 in Pretoria West, he was determined to make a successful business and his overall belief was one of using the very best repair methods and systems. Under his personal supervision, along with great customer service, this is exactly what has driven Jock’s Autobody and dent removers right to the top.

David says among the big changes that the company has seen has been the rapid demand for approved repair methods from key motor makers such as VW, Audi, Ford, Honda and Hyundai. “As a major structural repair centre we are now fully approved for 14 brands of vehicles,” says Ricky, his son.

David says that these days Ricky runs the ultra professional operation, but that their main focus has never altered from delivering a good quality repair. “That’s what has earned the company the highest grading possible in 11 consecutive years from the RMI and the AA. These inspections and surveys are conducted annually so we have to maintain the very highest standards in customer care to win these awards,” says David. They also have to keep pace with trade changes.

Ricky says that the company has also maintained excellent relationships with all their insurance partners and generally do work for all the major brokers and insurers. Their focus on delivering a great warranty has seen the company select the Spies Hecker brand of refinish which also offers a lifetime warranty on their range of car paints. They also enjoy great service from Intercity Paints.

“The secret of the company’s great success, is honesty. This trait has played a big part of being successful in this trade. You have to be straightforward with clients on repair delivery and attend to any glitches that crop up in a professional manner.”

Walking around the state-of-the-art repair facility, it is packed with top level Car-O-Liner equipment right to the latest multimix repair room for aluminium high strength steel and carbon fibre repair to Audi standards.

The company are also very involved in training hearing-impaired apprentices. They enjoy a great relationship with Dr Frik and his team at IT-C and are thrilled with the dedication and excellent work that each graduate and apprentice turns out.

Today’s team of Ricky, Helga Marshall (David’s daughter) and Anabela Tavares (David’s sister-in-law) are running an excellent operation and the whole production and administration team are proud of the ongoing success of Jock’s Autobody. It is an out-and-out repair concern with a big future ahead.
