BMW April 2022

Firstly I want to wish all my colleagues in the Automotive Body Repair Industry, a very prosperous 2021 and the pleasant experience of many financially growing business opportunities. In this month’s issue I am only making a few remarks, but please send your questions in 2021, so that I can try and help.
With regards to a training vision for 2021 in the Automotive Body Repair Industry, ITC is glad to report that the first 12 VDQ-students from Santam (9) and Telesure (3) have completed their Qualification’s first part (receiving a Statement of Results from the AQP Merseta) and are now preparing themselves for the EISA as the last leg to receive the full qualification!
In 2021 we hope to see QCTO Accredited VDQ Assessment Centres being established in selected areas, and the final assessment of these students as well as RPL for the VDQ candidates to take place.
Hopefully the first VDQ-RPL Candidates for 2021 will complete this qualification as soon as the Occupational Assessment Centres are up and running. Anybody interested to qualify as a VDQ (Insurance Assessors or Estimators), can contact me for more information. It is one of ITC’s visions to seriously concentrate on the RPL-programme for the VDQ Qualification.
Furthermore, ITC is planning to train 20 disabled (deaf) learners in industry related skills programmes – panelbeating, spray painting and suspension fitting – in 2021. Hopefully Merseta Funding will become available in early 2021.
ITC as a QCTO accredited Skills Development Provider will be facilitating the RPL-process for VDQ-candidates, making use of “blended learning” and “distance education.” This would mean that a potential VDQ RPL-candidate that is registered for the VDQ Qualification on the ITC database, will be accommodated within the ARPL-process, using electronic media. Contact ITC for more information.
Last but not least, remember the discretionary grant for apprenticeship training has now been increased to R207 000 per apprentice. If you need further information please go on to the Merseta Website or contact me to assist you.
