The team from Vican & Mipa have been working hard developing their South African dealer footprint with new distribution appointments in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). Thanks to excellent market place acceptance of the premium, yet affordable professional coatings system, their expansion across the country is happening at a rapid rate.

Automotive Refinisher magazine recently travelled to KZN to visit some of their new dealers accompanied by Vican’s Deon Els & Mipa’s exports sales support, Andreas Ferstl from Essenbach, Germany.

Our fist stop was KZN Car Paint Specialists, located in Stanger. They  cover a large area along the East coast, including deliveries inland as far as Greytown.

Founded in 2012, KZN Car Paint Specialists is run under the leadership of two of it’s three directors, Ashok Indarpal and Dumisani Sithani. Between them they have over 50 years of car paint experience in the collision repair industry.

The shop came about when the directors noticed a need for a professional, quality paint shop in the Stanger vicinity. They have specialised knowledge of the area and a wide range of clientele, with new customers every day. Their delivery vehicles run like clockwork and their six staff members are known for their fast and friendly service. The company enjoys exclusivity in Stanger with both the Mipa and Vican brands, which includes Vollux and Superlight products, and because of its quality, the value pricing as well as committed service to their customers, they are able to take on their competitors.

The biggest challenge facing the KZN market is the price aspect as most repairers choose the cheapest option and end up with inferior final finish and lower paint coverage. Ashok said, “Once they have used our professional colour matching service and seen the level of quality of finish from Mipa’s basecoats, plus its fast ease of use, they keep coming back for more”.

Thanks to the hands-on approach from Vican Manufacturing and the German brand Mipa, Ashok has seen huge growth in the business. They continue to simplify their colour matching systems and offer an excellent price with Vollux and quality ratio to the end user.

Capricorn Parts, who carry a broad selection of automotive paints and consumables are now also offering the range of consumables from Mipa which includes specialist fillers, putties, water paper and other fast moving lines.

Speaking to Rajen Moodley, director at Capricorn Parts in Durban central, he said, “We had a lot of interest in the European brand from our clients, especially in the putties and bodyfiller range, thanks to their great performance here at the coast. We look forward to working closely with Mipa. It’s a great value for money brand”.

Capricorn Parts has a history of excellent service, with deliveries twice a day to customers. They enjoy good client relations which is why the company sales average a million litres a month. This is thanks to their large customer base spanning the KZN province and reaching down into parts of the Eastern Cape as well.

Capricorn Parts is now in it’s 30th year of business. Having started in the collision repair industry by supplying crash replacement parts to market, the company saw an opportunity and began offering the complete one-stop-shop package by including paint, abrasives and consumables to complete their product list to their repairer network.

Driven by the support of their qualified sales team and technicians, Vican Manufacturing looks forward to exponential growth with their new venture with Capricorn Parts. With challenges in the KZN market being product pricing and a “cheapest price always wins mentality”, Capricorn Parts are happy to offer the option of premium quality products which go further at an affordable price.
